Top 5 Beaches in the United States To Relax Your Mind

If you are preparing your trip to the United States, surely the question that arises to all of us when we think about going on a trip to the USA has arisen: “which is better? ¿ The east coast or the west coast of the United States? "

If you are preparing your trip to the United States, surely the question that arises to all of us when we think about going on a trip to the USA has arisen: “which is better? ¿ The east coast or the west coast of the United States? "

We do not have a clear answer for that question and, in any case, we believe that it is a question with multiple replies that depends on the tastes and interests of each one. The students who choose to travel with us to study an English course in the United States each have their reasons why they choose different destinations: San Francisco, New York, Miami, Boston, Washington, San Diego ...

But whether on the east coast or the west coast, there is one thing that always amazes them: America's magnificent beaches. When we think of North America, we tend to imagine those impressive skyscrapers and bustling American cities that we see in movies or series, but the United States is a country with incredible nature and landscapes that leave anyone who visits them for the first time speechless.

Despite its large land area, it is the 8th country with the longest coastline according to data taken from the CIA's annual publication, The World Factbook. Today we are going to dedicate ourselves to shelving what are, in our opinion and without a ranking order, the 10 best beaches on the east coast and west coast of the United States, focusing especially on the beach states par excellence: California, Florida, and Hawaii.

1. La Jolla

Only with the name, it has the site promise. Although the etymological origin is not very clear, the most accepted theory is that it derives from the name given by the Spaniards who arrived in 1886. We forgive you for the misspelling that you have made since then in the word jewel for having one of the best beaches in the United States.

La Jolla is located on the shores of the Pacific, in the state of California. It is a neighborhood of the city of San Diego, but its 40,000 residents prefer to refer to it as a city or town, and the truth is that it is in its own right. Among its streets escorted by tall palm trees, you will find a multitude of shops and restaurants, as well as residential complexes and luxurious mansions. La Jolla is one of the most expensive and exclusive areas of San Diego as it is home to many millionaires.

In La Jolla, you will find both sandy and stone beaches, both frequented by sea lions, pelicans, and surfers. The most famous beaches are La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores, and Black's Beach. The latter is located near the Torrey Pines State Nature Reserve and is the largest nude beach in the United States. In addition, it is also one of the beaches with the largest waves in Southern California, which makes it one of the favorite places of the - always omnipresent on any Californian beach - surfers.

2. Crowned

Without moving from California and right in the city of San Diego we find Coronado beach or, rather, Coronado beaches. In San Diego Bay, opposite the city docks, we find the three beaches that makeup Coronado:  North BeachCentral Beach, and  Silver Strand State Beach.

Guarded by the statue of El Beso - which emulates the famous photo of the American sailor and the nurse kissing after World War II in 1945 - Coronado's beaches have been considered one of the best beaches in the United States according to the  Travel Channel. Seeing a sunset on its white sands - nicknamed 'sugar sands' - is a privilege, in addition to being able to combine moments of relaxation with activities on the beach such as surfing, fishing, volleyball ...

Its best point in favor is that they are in the magnificent city of San Diego that is, of the large Californian cities (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San José), the quietest and welcoming of all. During your visit to the city, you can visit the San Diego Zoo, one of the largest in the world; stroll through the jetty area and the shops of the Seaport Village, a beautifully lit area at night; enjoy the colorful neighborhood of Little Italy while trying a pizza; stroll through Balboa Park, the largest urban park in the United States; visit Sea World… In short, a city that is very worthwhile and an ideal destination if you are thinking of taking an English course for adults in the United States.

3. Malibu

Surely you know this beach or have heard of it on occasion. The city of Malibu, at the gates of Los Angeles, is an obligatory stop for those who travel the Pacific Coast Highway, the highway that crosses the Californian west coast and that crosses the city from end to end. And we say for mandatory because, whether or not you want to stop in the city to try to bathe on its beaches, the amount of traffic that crowds on that road forces you to take it easy and enjoy the traffic jam for several kilometers.

It is a purely residential city, with few shops and many houses, chalets, apartments, and mansions packed extremely close to the waterfront. Do you want to meet some of its illustrious inhabitants? Sure names like Cindy Crawford, Barbara Streisand, Bruce Willis, Cher, Sting, Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt ... and countless names are familiar to you! For this reason, the area is usually frequented by paparazzi and today there is a tough battle between celebrities who prevent reaching the sea with their mansions built in front of the coast and the authorities who seek to guarantee bathers access to the beach.

Among the most famous beaches in Malibu, we find Surfrider Beach, Zuma Beach, Malibu State Beach, and Topanga State Beach. Access to the beaches is very difficult, among other things, because finding parking is a task that can be infuriating. We give you some advice if you want to take a bath:  although Malibu is one of the best beaches in the United States and is known worldwide, it is much better to stop at the beaches that there are before arriving in the city. They may not have as much glamor or are frequented by celebrities, but you avoid the crowds and mansions packed together on the waterfront, being able to enjoy open natural spaces as impressive as El Matador State Beach that you can see in the image above.

4. Fort Lauderdale

We left the west coast of the United States to go to the other end of the country, to the state of Florida. There we find Fort Lauderdale, the Venice of America, and the city of forts built during the Second Seminole War in Florida in 1835. Today it is one of the main tourist destinations and an important yacht port, a symptom of the rapid growth that is experiencing Ft. Lauderdale as an industrial, financial, technology, and flight hub.

Fort Lauderdale Beach is blessed with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and pleasant ocean breezes that lift almost no wind, making it one of the best beaches in the United States, idyllic for lounging and relaxing. The transparent water is always calm, with just a few small waves and a very familiar atmosphere.

In addition to the natural beauty of the surroundings, you can also enjoy a set of cultural, educational, and entertainment offerings that offer excellent opportunities for recreation, leisure, relaxation, and fun. In addition, it is only one hour from Miami, the cleanest city in the United States. If you are looking for good weather and relaxation, Fort Lauderdale is a safe bet as a destination to take your English course for adults in the United States.

5. Siesta Key Beach

Without moving from Florida, but this time on the west coast of the state, we found the island of Siesta Key. Just by the name, we can relate that on this site the word overwhelm occupies the last position in the list of things to do here. It used to be called Sarasota Key, taking the name of the county in which it is located, but its reputation as a place of rest earned it the new nickname.

With a population of just 7,000, Siesta Key Beach - also known as Siesta Key - is very, very wide and long, with white sand so fine it is almost dust.  It is said that 99% of the sand on this beach is made up of quartz that originated in the Appalachians and sedimented there for millennia. Its waters are a transparent clear blue and among the services that we can enjoy we find tennis and volleyball courts, bathrooms, showers, a bar, children's games, and free parking (yes, free) that fills up quickly in season.

As you get away from the water, you enter a picnic area equipped with tables, pergolas, and grills for group enjoyment. The Crystal Classic is held on this beach, a sand sculpture tournament in which gigantic marvels that look like marble are created. In Siesta Key there are two other beaches further south known as Crescent Beach and Turtle Beach that, although they are not as spectacular or have the same sand as Siesta Beach, are less crowded. This piece of heaven could not be missing from our list of the 10 best beaches in the United States.
