The Vikings (3-2) have taken home three consecutive sectional championships and a regional title in 2020 in the time since the head coach Terry Bales took over the team in 2017-18. Prior to Bales Blue River's most recent sectional title was in 1984-85.

Bales was entering the season with a record of 72-30, with last season's 22-4 (9-0 in the Mid Eastern Conference) mark being his best yet. The Vikings have lost two key players who were Mallory Cross and Abby Thornburgh from this group, however the team had to replace them. Bales team was charged this season to replace their 14.5 points, 6.8 reps and 5.4 assist per game.

However, Blue River still has senior center Ally Madden, one of the best inside players in the region and sharpshooting junior Maci Chamberlin and plenty of depth to allow them to put together an appearance in another event.

Although winning four consecutive sectional titles could break the school's record in the process, there's a long way to go before the Vikings still have some way to go towards becoming a clear postseason rival.

"I don't know because we're not yet ready to expand. I hope we can become a team capable of doing this. I don't believe that we're far enough," Bales said of the chance for the team to win the sectional championship. "We've learned how improve our defense ... take care not to commit the mistakes that aren't forced. This means we have some work to mmoexp madden 22 coins do.
