Larval Tears are items that let you respec in Elden Ring. To put it simply, what this means is allowing you to reallocate all the points that you have spent leveling up, letting you change up your build if you wish to try out new playstyles, or refund some misplaced stat points.
Respeccing uses one of your Larval Tears up, there are limited Larval Tears hanging around, so rely on them wisely. Hopefully, unless you are a serial respecter, you need to find that you will find enough Larval Tears hanging around to correct any major mistakes or assist you to reassess your build if needed. The sections below will explain where to obtain them - be cautious, though, as many of them are far harder to obtain than others.

Enemy Drops
As you may expect from an item that enables you to change yourself in this drastic way, most of the Larval Tears in Elden Ring is dropped by enemies that transform. Some of those enemies are weaklings that you may ignore entirely, while some are already strong and can upset your victory by transforming into something even stronger upon defeat.
Many of those enemies are extremely difficult to defeat - make sure to don't to have a lot of runes you could lose. Some of those enemies, like the Runebear in Limgrave, are close enough to summon points to make use of Spirit Ashes - attempt to suit your selection of summon towards the transformed version from the enemy.
In addition to the transforming enemies above, you will find some enemies hanging around that will just outright drop Larval Tears. These are, with one exception, all Silver Sphere enemies - the gigantic, smooth balls that like to roll at you with incredible speed.
There is a Silver Sphere enemy in Nokron, Eternal City, and three in Nokstella, Eternal City. They will always drop a Larval Tear when killed, but only once - as the Silver Spheres will respawn like the majority of other enemies hanging around, they're not going to drop more Tears.
You go for two Larval Tears whenever you beat the Mimic Tear boss. Only the version in Nokron, Eternal City will drop one, the main one in the Haligtree won't.
Purchasable Larval Tears
There are two Larval Tears available for purchase hanging around:
The first can be obtained from Pidia, a merchant that you could find inside Caria Manor. To reach Pidia, you have to first complete the region, beating Royal Knight Loretta. Head outside her boss's arena, head directly towards the left, and employ the platforms to decrease down into a brand new area from the Manor.
The second can be obtained from the Nomadic Merchant, who creates a shop in Siofra River, close to the brazier puzzle. To get to him, you will need to climb the scaffolding within the middle of the area and platform over towards the nearby connected caves. You'll hear the merchant before you decide to see him, probably.
Lootable Larval Tears
There will also be a few Larval Tears hanging around that you can just get.
The earliest Larval Tear that you could loot is within Liurnia from the Lakes - you will find it within the graveyard within the Village from the Albinaurics, which may be reached by heading beneath the large landmass towards the southwest of Liurnia from the Lakes.
There will also be two Larval Tears found easily in Nokron, Eternal City. To get to el born area, you have to defeat Radahn after which enter the deep hole that appears in Limgrave.
Explore the buildings close to the Nokron, Eternal City Site of Grace to locate one, being very careful from the enemies around there.
The second is located just before the Mimic Tear boss fight, in the small structure which has Silver Tears dropping along with you whenever you approach. Be wary.
A Larval Tear also can serve as the reward for just one of Elden Ring's painting quests. First, discover the Resurrection Painting in the Artist's Shack - this really is located just towards the north from the entrance towards the Carian Study Hall into the spotlight and has a Site of Grace nearby.
Once you will find the painting inside your inventory, you need to be able to locate a ghost somewhere within the graveyard towards the north of Caria Manor. How To Respec
Once you've your Larval Tears, you'll want to rely on them to respect them, right? To do this, you will need to have beaten Rennala, Queen from the Full Moon, who's the boss from the Academy of Raya Lucaria.
After defeating Rennala, she won't disappear like other bosses. Instead, she'll remain there, and when you connect to her, that you can do one of two things: improve your appearance, or respec your stats.
Every respec cost just one Larval Tear there are several rules that you've to follow:
Your level won't change, meaning you have to invest exactly the same amount of points as the current build. If you've leveled up 80 times, you have to allocate 80 points, for instance.
You cannot create a stat go below the amount you started with. This means you cannot plunge a stat below its initial level to obtain more points to make use of elsewhere.
When you've allocated your stats correctly, pressing Confirm will solidify your alternatives and consume your Larval Tear.
