It's been known since months that RuneScape will release a new skill in the coming year. Millions of players have speculated and thousands of threads have been created and yet I am, writing an article about the new feature. Do I appear to be old-fashioned? Is this your last chance? Ready for a new set of pink slippers? Maybe, but you might find this article interesting nonetheless.
In the latest Q&A thread, Jagex answered a lot of questions about the new technology. Although Jagex is known for its vague and non-revealing answers however, we were able to deduce some criteria from their answers. We might be able determine the type and the level of the skill based on these criteria. This could be useful, since no one knows what this new skill will be yet.
I have selected the most crucial aspects. While the skill was initially designed to be a one-time game, it was eventually transformed into an actual skill. It's unique and different from any skill in RuneScape. It cannot be compared with other skills, for instance Summoning can be compared to Herblore. It will enable Runescape to introduce a whole new kind of gameplay. This skill will be combined with the existing abilities.
It will be used for both combat as well as non-combat purposes. It won't be a money-driven training. Jagex has given details. I've read the discussion and found many suggestions. Skills like sailing Bartering, Necromancy, or Sailing for example, don't really appear to be very different from already-established skills. So what makes a skill special?
