What is a mirror finish?
Mirror finish on stainless steel is a highly reflective, smooth finish with a scratch-free appearance, achieved by polishing the stainless steel. Also known as #8 polishing, a mirror finish can be achieved mechanically using a range of progressive abrasives and polishing compounds.

Why choose a mirror finish?
Mirror finishes are often used on stainless steel products that need to look attractive, such as railings, architecture, kitchen/bath faucets or artwork. The benefit of a mirror finish is not only that it looks great, but it is also highly resistant to corrosion. This is because the polishing procedure can remove deep scratches that may contain corrosive particles. This is where mirrored finishes can be especially useful in coastal construction projects that may be exposed to salty air.

How to get a face finish on stainless steel
To achieve that, would go through the lens weld, then get closer to the break-in, then use a more precise method to break in, and then use the real effect of this seam to achieve a true reflective interface.

Stage 1: Walk/Remove Welds
Step 2: Sand
Step 3: Polishing

For best results:
Clean the surface before sanding - this will reduce the chance of particles becoming embedded in the metal and will also allow your abrasive to last longer and be removed faster.
After removing the weld, the first grinding should be mixed in the weld in the direction of the original metal grains.
In each subsequent sanding stage, move in a 90° direction from the previous sanding direction. This will ensure all scratches are removed.
Always use a clean polishing mop. If using more than one type of polish, clean the manufacture with cleaner and a clean rag between polishes, and use a clean mop for each type of polish (don't mix)
