The decision to recreate the classic feeling within the new infrastructure has led to some difficult areas. For some players the rough edges are part and parcel of the original appeal. Blizzard was left to make determinations on what should be included and what shouldn't and the choice came down to tough judgment decisions.

"Anything that could impact gameplay is something we'd like to be sure the product we offer has been created in the truest sense." Birmingham added. "Where we feel like quality-of-life improvements are okay are things liketapping to complete a name in in-game mail. This isn't a fundamental element of the gameplay experience of leveling, and seeking out, and trying to discover the world.

"Challenge is an element of it," Birmingham continued. "The world seems dangerous. There are difficult group quests out across the globe, elite quests that you can't undertake on your own or that you'd have to be over-leveled if you want to tackle them on your own. Where they really push players to find a partner to buy WOW WoTLK Classic Gold assist, or out level them and come back later, or quit them and move further. There is no requirement to complete every quest in every zone. You can pick your way through the world. In my opinion, that's exactly the game of the past that people are looking for."
