Tyrande notes WoTLK Classic Gold that while Sylvanas seems to be showing regret for the actions she took (thanks to a somewhat complicated tale of her getting a part of her heart back) There will be none of peace to the Banshee Queen, despite all the wrongs she has committed. Rather than a merciful death or a prolonged execution, Tyrande may have a different idea for Sylvanas.
"Below is that Maw," Tyrande tells Sylvanas. "Every soul lost in the depths of its abyss, abandoned or condemned, it is your duty to be able to find and forward it to the Arbiter. Then you will work for the watchful eyes of Dori'thur. This is how you'll revive your victims."
Sylvanas appears to accept her fate by saying "My actions were solely mine and I am ok with the consequences" and she does not hope for mercy. After multiple expansions that included her as one of the game's most powerful antagonists , and also committing horrific crimes that almost led to the demise of all of Azeroth, Sylvanas will be sentenced to roam the dark of the Maw, in search of all the lost souls she had sent there.
Many fans, particularly Alliance players have long been worried that Blizzard is looking to redeem Sylvanas and that she'd escape a fitting punishment for everything she did. Even if she's not being detained or getting the headsman's knife, having to go through purgatory for the next hundreds or thousands of years to search for the souls of those she had wrongfully killed appears to be an appropriate punishment, even if it's not the final outcome some Alliance players would like to have seen.
